This engine is a little taller than the old one, so it needed to be raised a few inches for the oil pan to clear the axle:
This meant the bench seat has to go, to make room for the shifter. I didn't like the bench seat anyway.

Hello... I hope you're still checking this blog. Where did you acquire the Toyota turbo diesel engine from? How did you source it? I'm getting a scout, a '63 as well, this weekend and want to do the diesel swap but haven't had any luck sourcing a swap-able engine. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated! Not just about the engine but about the entire vehicle and the restoration you've been doing!
The guys at http://calihscout.com sourced it for me. Not sure where it came from, Canada or Australia probably.
